Aquamarine is the blue to blue-green variety of Beryl, a hexagonal crystal mineral with a vitreous luster. Its name comes from the Latin “water of the sea,” reflecting oceanic hues caused by iron impurities. Aquamarine is the March birthstone and is found worldwide, with the famous Dom Pedro weighing over 2 kilograms.
