Amazonite is a blue-green to green feldspar gemstone found in notable localities such as Brazil, Russia, and Colorado. Despite its name, amazonite is not sourced from the Amazon River; the name likely originated from early explorers who associated its distinctive coloration with the region’s lush waters.
Historically, amazonite’s green hue was attributed to copper impurities, but modern research indicates its color comes from trace amounts of lead within the crystal structure.
