Nuummite is an ultra-rare, ancient mineral first discovered near Nuuk, Greenland, and formed over 3 billion years ago, making it one of the oldest known rocks on Earth. It is a metamorphic rock composed primarily of the amphiboles gedrite and anthophyllite, which are layered in parallel, creating a natural reflective structure. This structure produces schiller-like flashes of color, often referred to as “Nuummite’s rainbow,” that appear as metallic gold, bronze, blue, and deep indigo streaks across the stone. These flashes shift dynamically depending on the angle of light, giving each specimen a singular, almost hypnotic depth.
